CyberGalaxia | Strengthening cybersecurity in Wallonia
Building a robust cyber ecosystem for industry and space
Cyber threats are increasing, and connected systems are becoming more complex. As a result, organisations need practical solutions to secure their operations.
The CyberGalaxia project, funded by the FEDER Wallonia 2021–2027 programme, addresses this challenge. It develops innovative solutions and creates an environment where they can be tested and deployed in real con-ditions. By doing so, CyberGalaxia strengthens cybersecurity capabilities and supports the digital transition of indus-trial and critical sectors, with a strong focus on aerospace.
Target group
The project primarily targets:
- Manufacturing companies
- Companies active in the space sector
- Organisations developing or operating connected systems
Context
Digital transformation and increasing system interconnectivity expose companies to more complex cyber threats. Protecting infrastructures, systems and data is now a strategic priority. Organisations must strength-en their resilience while complying with growing regulatory requirements such as NIS2 and the Cyber Resili-ence Act.
However, many companies still lack the right solutions, operational capabilities and frameworks to effectively anticipate and manage cybersecurity incidents.
Objectives & results
CyberGalaxia aims to position Wallonia as a leading region in cybersecurity. It does so by building a strong ecosystem around the Galaxia site in Libin, bringing together industry, research and innovation.
More specifically, the project aims to:
- Improve infrastructure resilience against cyberattacks
- Develop operational capabilities to prevent and manage incidents
- Promote a secure cyberspace aligned with European regulations and standards (NIS2, Cyber Resilience Act, IEC 62443)
Expected results:
- Creation of a cybersecurity hub in Libin, linked to the Walloon Recovery Plan
- Development of skills, jobs and training in cybersecurity
- Stronger collaboration between industry and research
- Deployment of demonstrators to test and validate solutions
Valorisation
The project develops demonstrators at the Galaxia centre, focusing on industrial and space applications:
- Trusted & Secured Manufacturing
Securing connected production chains - Trusted & Secure Space Infrastructures
Securing space communications and developing cybersecurity training scenarios
These demonstrators allow companies to test solutions in real-life conditions and accelerate industrial adoption.
Approach
CyberGalaxia is built on close collaboration between research centres and companies. This ensures that technological developments are aligned with real industrial needs.
By combining scientific expertise, practical validation and knowledge sharing, the project accelerates the adoption of best practices. It also strengthens the cybersecurity capabilities of industrial players in a sustain-able way and supports their growth.
